EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
Shawn’s career journey began with earning interior design/architecture credentials at the University of Johannesburg. His academic foundation provided him with a deep understanding of design theory, space planning, and the technical skills required to bring creative visions to life. Shawn is a devoted artist and his talents span digital art methods, drawing, painting, and woodworking.
From the outset of his career, Shawn demonstrated a passion for creating interiors that reflect his clients’ personalities and lifestyles, always with meticulous attention to detail.
CAREER JOURNEY
Shawn has worked on a diverse range of projects. His design projects have included: upmarket homes, boutique retail spaces, themed restaurants, corporate offices, exhibition stands and hospitals. Every project is unique, and Shawn delivers tailored solutions that balance aesthetics with everyday practicality. His versatility and expertise with CAD software allows him to communicate ideas clearly. and execute projects with precision.
For a period, Shawn took a creative detour into the world of digital art and 3D environment design. During this time, he applied his architectural sensibilities and technical skills to concept virtual spaces for immersive video games. His experience in concept art has enhanced his skills in interior design. Working in the digital realm required him to conceptualize and build immersive virtual spaces. It’s deepened his understanding of spatial dynamics, visual storytelling, and advanced visualization techniques. Environment concept work has sharpened Shawn’s ability to think even more creatively about layout, lighting, and atmosphere. This experience also improved his proficiency with industry-standard software, such as CAD and 3D modelling tools. With this experience Shawn can produce highly detailed and realistic interior design renderings.
Shawn is currently working as a freelance designer, where he continues to craft inspired works that exceed client expectations.
PERSONAL INTERESTS
Outside the studio, Shawn is an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, appreciating the discipline and community the sport offers. He enjoys unwinding with tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons and finds inspiration in storytelling, whether through books, games, or film. Most importantly, Shawn cherishes time spent with his family – including morning walks at the dog park and sunset ice creams on the beach with his wife and son are among his favourite ways to recharge.
